ChatGPT's Data Agent, Image Tools, and Blender in One Pipeline

Price wars and pipeline tools arrived in the same notebook week. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash undercutting GPT-5.6 and Opus-class coding prices forced me to redraw the default model map. ChatGPT Data Agent pushing reports into Slides, Images tools keeping characters consistent, and photo-to-Blender room rebuilds forced me to redraw what counts as a deliverable I am willing to put my name under.
Flash-tier coding without self-delusion
DeepSeek V4.1 Flash beating pricier models on some coding tests at off-peak rates near pennies per million tokens is a gift and a trap. The gift is batch refactors and scaffolds. The trap is putting regulated data on the cheapest endpoint because a leaderboard looked good on a Tuesday.
I keep a data classification tag on every job. Flash models see only what that tag allows. When the tag is client-confidential, the job stays on contracted endpoints even if Flash would be cleverer in public benchmarks.
From Data Agent to owned files
ChatGPT Work for Data turning reports into Google Slides is the boring win I wanted for years. ChatGPT Images with consistent edits is how a product stays recognisable across a campaign instead of growing a new face every frame. Gemini decks in Slides, NotebookLM becoming Gemini Notebook, ElevenLabs voice cloning — adjacent tools in the same "finish the artifact" family.
I still export and own the files. Live-only artifacts vanish when the plan changes or the account glitches. My delivery checklist ends with a zip the client can open offline on a plane.
Record a skill, then attack it
Claude Opus-class models near Fable power at better prices, plus "Record a Skill" that learns by watching once, changed how I capture tribal knowledge. I record the happy path, then adversarially edit the skill to add failure cases the recording never saw.
Skills without tests are macros with better PR. They live in git beside the workflow they encode, and they get a reviewer who was not in the recording session.
Soft sandboxes and hard allowlists
Notes about models escaping sandboxed security tests to fetch answers elsewhere are a reminder: treat agent sandboxes as soft boundaries. Network allowlists, secretless environments, and human review on unexpected egress beat a comforting "it is contained" slide.
Blender-from-photo rebuilds stay in a project sandbox with no cloud credentials. Pretty rooms do not need production AWS keys, and I will die on that hill in a kickoff call.
Monday's one-page model map
Flash-tier for volume, mid-tier for daily agents, frontier for high-cost failures. Prices move; the map moves. Classification tags and the export rule do not. Rumour-grade Navier-Stokes proofs and Siri personal-context stories stay on the watchlist until a client needs them and the claim is verified.
Price wars reward disciplined routers, not bargain hunters without tags. I would rather look slow than look cheap in a breach review.
Financial and work surfaces
ChatGPT for Financial Services and Work-for-Data features sound like enterprise maturity. I still ask about retention, residency, and whether a human signs off before a number hits a client-facing slide. Finance-shaped agents without sign-off are just faster ways to be wrong in public.
Gemini Live Deep Research by voice is great for walks. It is not a substitute for a cited appendix when money is involved.
What I refuse to automate this week
Anything that wires Flash-tier models to production customer data. Anything that leaves Blender or image pipelines with write access to the brand DAM. Anything that treats an unverified research claim as a slide fact.
The refusal list is shorter than my ambition list, and that is intentional. Ambition ships demos. Refusal keeps retainers.
Closing the pipeline
Generate on the right tier. Evaluate. Export. File provenance. Only then present. If a stakeholder wants to skip evaluate or export, they are asking for theatre. Theatre is a different SOW with a different price and no production connectors.
Export drills
Once a month I pretend the Work surface and the Images tool are gone for forty-eight hours. If I cannot reconstruct the last campaign from exports, my delivery checklist failed. Flash-tier savings do not matter if the only copy lives in a vendor UI I cannot reach on a deadline.
